Nonetheless\u00a0the quality of racing was red hot featuring\u00a0a large and competitive fleet gathering once again in the glamorous waters off Monaco.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Four out of six scheduled races were completed under light and unstable wind which kept the tacticians on their toes for the entire weekend. The wind speed rarely exceeded ten knots, whilst the racing was not physically taxing, shifting breeze was a real test of tactical awareness.\u00a0The reigning Italian National Champion\u00a0Franco Solerio racing<i>\u00a0L&#8217;elagain\u00a0<\/i>has won the first event of the Alcatel J\/70 Cup staking his claim on the title,\u00a0 whereas the Corinthian team<i>\u00a0Mummy One<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>owned by Alessio Querin grabbed a great second place. The\u00a0 podium is completed by Ludovico Fassitelli&#8217;s<i>\u00a0Junda<\/i>\u00a0(Yacht Club de Monaco).<br \/>\nAlessandro Zampori&#8217;s\u00a0<i>Magie<\/i>\u00a0finished fourth, tied with equal point respectively in fifth and sixth position are Carlo Alberini&#8217;s\u00a0<i>Calvi Network<\/i>\u00a0(just back from the Bacardi Miami Sailing Week with a gret second place) and the British team led by Charles Thomson on\u00a0<i>Brutus<\/i>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Following the footsteps of the 2015 event, the Italian J\/70 Class Association will count on a highly international fleet for the entire racing season. And whereas several new teams have joined the Italian and European J70s,\u00a0 all top teams of the 2015 Alcatel J\/70 Cup\u00a0 &#8211; both in overall and Corinthian divisions &#8211;\u00a0 started their 2016 season in Monaco to collect the points through the series consisting of the five events altogether.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>After\u00a0 Monaco the Alcatel J\/70 Cup series will lead to Sanremo (on March 7-8), to Porto Cervo (on June 3-5), to Malcesine (on July 23-24).\u00a0 The series will conclude with the J\/70 Eurocup (Riva del Garda, September 9-11).<\/div>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monaco &#8211; Like one year ago, Yacht Club Monaco hosted the opening event of the Alcatel J\/70 Cup which took place over the last weekend.
