After the three races completed on the opening day, J Curve, owned by YCCS member Mauro Roversi, leads the provisional standings. Just one point behind is CAIM Jeniale, skippered by Massimo Rama, while Swish, helmed by Steven Proud, sits in third.

The starting signal for the first race was given at 1:00 pm, as scheduled. Two further windward-leeward races followed on the course positioned offshore from Capo Ferro, in the waters facing the Island of Bisce. The fleet raced in a south-easterly Scirocco breeze, ranging between 10 and 13 knots.

The first race saw the Corinthian crew aboard CAIM Jeniale produce an impressive comeback after a difficult start. They steadily climbed back through the fleet, rounding the second windward mark in the lead and maintaining control through to the finish to claim the victory. Hold Fast, another Corinthian crew, crossed the line in second.

J Curve, third in the opening race, responded strongly in the second, setting the pace from the early stages and crossing the finish line with a clear margin over the chasing pack. Behind them, the battle went right down to the final metres, with Swish and CAIM Jeniale crossing virtually side by side and finishing second and third respectively.

In the final race of the day, the fleet once again favoured the left-hand side of the course. One More Time, skippered by Sinead Byrne, took the win, ahead of Ciclone and J Curve.

With one victory and two third-place finishes, J Curve ends the opening day at the top of the provisional standings. CAIM Jeniale is just one point behind, while Swish occupies third place.

Five races remain to be sailed over the next two days. Starting from the fifth completed race, the worst score in the series will be discarded, helping to shape the final overall standings.

Racing will resume tomorrow, October 3, with the first warning signal scheduled for 11:30 am. The forecast calls for light easterly winds during the morning, strengthening throughout the afternoon. The winner of tomorrow’s races will also claim the Garmin Cup, a special prize offered by the event’s technical partner, Garmin.

The J/70 Italian Class, which uses the Vakaros RaceSense system for starting management, is supported by Lincoln International, Garmin, VelaMania, North Sails Collection, UtilGraph, Gottifredi Maffioli and Gin Vento.

Porto Cervo – Today’s racing officially kicked off the final event of the 2026 J/70 Cup, which also serves as the J/70 Class Italian Championship.
