Lerici – The second leg of the 2026 J/70 Cup begins with four qualifying races. In Lerici, where the Circolo della Vela Erix and the J/70 Italian Class are organizing the event, PRO Riccardo Incerti, given the conflicting forecasts this weekend, preferred to play it safe, putting as many times as possible behind him.
The first to take the lead was Andrey Pushkin’s Tenzor Team (today 3-1-1-3): considered little more than an outsider going into the race, the Emirati team proved solid and fast, imposing significant gaps on their opponents at times.
Trying to keep pace were the French team Euro-Voiles (5-4-6-1), led by Louis Berbet, who played the role of the Corinthian attacker to the fullest, winning the fourth race of the series and recovering other times that guaranteed them a night at high altitude.
Completing the provisional podium is one of the pre-race favorites, Mauro Roversi’s J-Curve (6-6-2-2), who started less brilliantly than usual but improved along the way.
While the Irish Wildcard team, led by Harry Twomey (7-2-3-5), is in fourth place, the second-place Corinthian, Gianfranco Noè’s White Hawk (1-12-7-6), winner of their category at Marina di Scarlino and of today’s first race, must move down the rankings to fifth place. Ali Hall’s closest rival Calypso (10-5-4-7) is sixth on equal points.
Federico Siragna’s JB Sailing Team, on the other hand, was named best mixed crew on day one.
The second leg of the 2026 J/70 Cup will resume tomorrow early afternoon: as per tradition, the racing on Day 2 will determine the Garmin Cup.
The J/70 Italian Class, which uses Vakaros’ RaceSense system to manage starts, is supported by Lincoln International, Garmin, VelaMania, North Sails Collection, UtilGraph, Gottifredi Maffioli, and Gin Vento.
