Porto Cervo, 4 ott0bre 2026 – The second day of racing once again offered the seventeen teams competing in the final event of the 2026 J/70 Cup, which also serves as the J/70 Class Italian Championship, ideal conditions to complete three more races. With one day remaining, J Curve, owned by YCCS member Mauro Roversi, retains the lead in the provisional standings, followed by CAIM Jeniale, which remains firmly in second place. Ciclone, helmed by Yann Ingliesi, has moved up to third.
The first race was initially scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m., but light winds forced the postponement of racing. The Race Committee eventually hoisted the warning signal at 1:00 p.m. and, following the opening race, the fleet completed two more windward-leeward races in a steady easterly breeze of around 10 knots.
With six races completed so far, the discard has now come into play, allowing teams to drop their worst result. A further two races may be sailed on the final day, bringing the maximum number of races scheduled for the event to eight.
Tenzor Team won the first race of the day, leading the fleet from the first windward mark all the way to the finish, followed by Swish and CAIM Jeniale. After finishing fourth in the opening race of the day, J Curve responded with two consecutive victories in the following races, producing an excellent comeback in the fifth race, when the team climbed from the back of the fleet to take the lead at the finish.
It was also a positive day for CAIM Jeniale, which secured two second-place finishes in the subsequent races, finishing ahead of One More Time and Anemology respectively.
Thanks to today’s results, YCCS member Mauro Roversi’s J Curve remains at the top of the standings with a two-point advantage over CAIM Jeniale. On the eve of the final day, the battle for the title remains wide open. The fight for the final podium spot is also still undecided, with Ciclone and One More Time currently level on points.
Today’s races also counted towards the final Garmin Cup of the season, with the victory going to the aforementioned J Curve, owned by YCCS member Mauro Roversi.
Racing will resume tomorrow, October 4, with the starting signal scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The forecast calls for a 10–12 knot south-easterly Scirocco breeze, with gusts of up to 20 knots. Once racing concludes, the teams will gather in Piazza Azzurra for the final prize-giving ceremony, where numerous awards will be presented, including discount vouchers to facilitate participation in the Tenzor International Cup, organised during the winter by Tenzor Sailing Club in Bodrum, Türkiye.
The J/70 Italian Class, which uses Vakaros’ RaceSense system for starting management, is supported by Lincoln International, Garmin, VelaMania, North Sails Collection, UtilGraph, Gottifredi Maffioli and Gin Vento.
