J/70 Cup 2026: discover where and when

Milan – After celebrating Yann Inghilesi’s Cyclone as the new Italian J/70 champion and Massimo Rama’s Why Not CAIM as the winner among the Corinthians, and the successes in the 2025 J/70 Cup for Gullboy Guriel’s Deniczik and the amateurs of Gianfranco Noè’s White Hawk, the J/70 Italian Class has promptly announced the racing calendar for the 2026 edition of the circuit reserved for the popular one-design boat produced by J-Boats.

The season will open in April (10-12) with the Scarlino event organized by the Yacht Club Toscana, where the class has not been present since 2019. This will be followed, less than a month later, by the Lerici event (May 8-10), hosted by the Circolo Vela Erix, which already hosted the 2023 and 2024 Italian Championships, won respectively by Sofia Giondi’s Wanderlust and Luca Domenici’s Notaro Team. Before the summer break, almost a year after the J/70 Mixed Plus World, the fleet will once again compete in Torbole (June 26-28). The season finale, at a location yet to be determined, is scheduled for October 2-4 and will also count as the Italian J/70 Championship.

“The numbers also show that the J/70 Cup has confirmed its status as the most popular one-design circuit internationally in 2025: a fact we are proud of and which repays the staff for their consistently demanding organizational efforts. For 2026, it should be emphasized that between the World Championships, European Championships, Mixed Plus World Championships, and Corinthian World Championships, the summer will be entirely occupied by major events, for which participants must be guaranteed an adequate number of days to transfer their boats. We have solved this problem by slightly compressing the start of the season in order to gather the fleet in Lerici for the end-of-May event. This will make it easier for those who wish to participate to continue on to the international events, while those waiting for the Torbole event will be able to leave their boats at the Circolo Vela Erix,” explains the president of the J/70 Italian Class, Federico Siragna.

The Class Secretariat, led by Giulia Albuzio, has skillfully navigated these constraints: the first three events, scheduled for April, May, and June, are scheduled at clubs already visited by the J/70 fleet, which appreciated their race course, organizational skills, and hospitality. As for the remainder of the season, while the location of the Italian J/70 Championship, which will close the year as always and for which several candidates have been submitted, is being finalized, the J/70 Italian Class board is working on developing an event with an innovative format that, once finalized, will be offered to the J/70 International Class as a first.

The 2025 J/70 Italian Class season is supported by Lincoln International, Gottifredi Maffioli, Garmin, VelaMania, North Sails Collection, UtilGraph, Gin Vento, and Cantine Tinazzi.
